Westminster Free Clinic’s Vision Services Program has a big impact in our local community. With the huge need for vision services for the uninsured in Ventura County, this program is in high demand and has been growing.

Vision Services Program
Beginning in 2016, vision services doubled. In addition to free eye exams, glasses and diabetic retinopathy screening, we perform cataract and glaucoma screenings as well. Ophthalmologists and optometrists volunteer to make these services possible. Volunteer ophthalmologists are needed to provide cataract surgeries and eye surgeries for retinal bleeds at their place of work. Over 25 life-changing surgeries have been performed thus far, and our patients are able to see again, allowing them to work and drive safely. Ophthalmologists also monitor and provide medication for patients with glaucoma.
WFC’s volunteer optometrists and ophthalmologists, in partnership with SEE International, The Rotary Club of Ventura, The Lions Club and Salvation Army made it possible to provide 847 free eye exams and glasses to patients at WFC in 2025. Patients can go to WFC’s clinics in Oxnard and Thousand Oaks weekly for free glasses and eye exams, and patients go to WFC’s Oxnard clinic for medical eye conditions where our volunteer Ophthalmologist is able to diagnose, provide prescriptions, and refer patients in need of surgeries.
