2-Year Teen Healthcare Training & Education Pathways Program

2024 teen intern applications for Thousand Oaks Clinic/East Ventura County, Oxnard Clinic/West Ventura County and Santa Paula Clinic sites is CLOSED

 

WFC’s 2-year healthcare training and internship, and interviews are offered at the Westminster Clinic closest to where the student lives.

Interviews will occur in February for those who applied by the deadline. Students will be contacted for an interview time.

Eligibility:

Has at least 2 years left of high school

Must be available 4:00pm -10:30pm

Is available Tuesday nights for student volunteering in Oxnard

Is available Wednesday nights for students volunteering in Thousand Oaks

Is compassionate, caring, hard working, and responsible

Students fluent in a second language are preferred

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required

 

Application Process:

A tour of the clinic before your interview is MANDATORY at:
1800 S C Street, Oxnard, CA (Tuesday evenings) or
1000 E Janss Rd., Thousand Oaks, CA (Wednesday evenings)
1029 E Santa Paula St, Santa Paula, CA (evening of every third Thursday)

Fill out a Teen Intern Application online below by scanning the QR code or visit the clinic to receive a hard copy of the application and hand it to the Teen Program Coordinator, Alicia Rincon, RN.

Be invited to interview (February or March of each year).

Student has a 15-minute interview with a panel of Clinic members.

Teen is notified if he/she is selected and completes a mandatory all-day initial training before starting at clinic.

Teen interns are required to wear plain navy blue scrubs, and closed toe shoes when interning.

Average number of new interns selected each year (50 or more high school students to replace those who are graduating).

Once selected, the initial teen training will last 4-6 months with a preceptor and a medical skills test will be passed before your name is embroidered on your scrubs at which time you can assist patients on your own and can train to become a preceptor your second year

Being an intern at WFC is a big commitment. The internship lasts at least 2-years, 5-6 hours on a clinic night every other week, 12 months of the year. The application and interview process typically takes place in the spring of a student’s sophomore year. A tour of the clinic is REQUIRED to see if this internship is for you.
